What does the A+ Scholarship cover?
The A+ Scholarship will pay tuition and fees to any Missouri public community college or career/technical school for up to 2 years. There are also smaller A+ incentive scholarships at some 4-year schools in Missouri (not MU). It’s best to check with your intended 4-year school as these incentive scholarships sometimes come and go.
Program Requirements
To qualify for the A+ Scholarship, students must:
- Complete a written A+ Schools Agreement;
- Attend a designated A+ high school for two years prior to graduation (Must apply no later than Nov. 1 of your senior year.
- Graduate from high school with an unweighted grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale (grades 9-12);
- Maintain a cumulative 95 percent attendance record in grades 9-12;
- Perform 50 hours of unpaid tutoring or mentoring coordinated by the A+ office (up to 12.5 hours can include job shadowing experiences);
- Maintain a record of good citizenship and avoid the use of alcohol and other unlawful drugs
- Earn a score of Proficient or higher on the Algebra 1 End of Course Assessment or a Pre-ACT or ACT math subscore in accordance with the following scale:

**Seniors who do not have a qualifying Math EOC score may earn a qualifying score through alternative testing options. Please review the Ways to Improve Your Math Score document below for more information.
WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR MATH SCORE for A+ Scholarship qualification.
- Attend a Missouri community college or post-secondary vocational/technical school on a full-time basis and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher
The A+ Schools Program’s student financial incentive will be available for up to two (2) years of attendance during the four-year period after graduation from high school. To access the funds, participants must:
- Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form (second semester of their senior year). FAFSA Application and Information
- Attend a Missouri public community college or career/technical school on a full-time basis.
- Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Be a US citizen or legal permanent resident when the scholarship is accessed.

Tutor Training Requirements:
When you are ready to complete your tutor/service hours, you must first view the training video and indicate where you want to earn your hours.

- How can I earn my service hours?
There are three main ways to earn service hours:
1. In the community: Any place of business that accepts volunteers and has an adult who can monitor and sign off on hours is acceptable.
2. At a CPS school: This option works well during CPS summer school. I place many students in elementary schools (or other schools) as classroom helpers.
3. Job Shadowing (up to 12.5 hours): Any business where you have an interest in learning more about is acceptable. There are separate forms for this, available from the A+ Coordinator.
- Important Notes:
Service hours cannot be earned before you enroll in the A+ Program.
Service hours should be pre-approved, which is part of the orientation process that you learn when you turn in your enrollment form (to Counseling).
